COMMERCIAL ALERT - Employment Tribunal - Rate Changes 12 March 2010
Employment Tribunal - Rate Changes For the first time ever the maximum Employment Tribunal Compensatory Award has been decreased - from £66,200 to £65,300, effective from 1 February this year. This is because the limit tracks the Retail Price Index. Specifically, under the Employment Regulations Act 1999, the RPI as at September each year determines the level of the maximum award for the next financial year. As the RPI showed a fall of 1.4% from September 2008 to September 2009, the maximum award falls by the equivalent percentage from 1 February 2010. There is no change to the basic weekly pay of £380 used for the purposes of calculating the statutory redundancy payment and the basic award in Employment Tribunal claims.
