Press Release
New Probate Manager appointed - 11 July 2008

NEW APPOINTMENT FOR GLOUCESTER LAW FIRM

Treasures, one of Gloucester’s longest-established law firms have announced the appointment of Chris James as its Probate Manager.

Chris is aged 40 and spent almost 20 years in retail banking (with Barclays and Royal Bank of Scotland) where he gained extensive experience, in a managerial capacity, in advising clients in financial matters. At the age of 35, disillusioned with banking, he decided on a new career in the law and joined Willens, solicitors in Cheltenham, as a Probate Assistant where he remained for the next 4 years.

He moved to Gloucester in 2007 and, after a short time working with a firm in Nailsworth, joined Treasures in July 2008. He is studying for a qualification with STEP – the Society of Tax and Estate Practitioners.

Mark Hammond, Treasures senior partner, commented “We are very pleased to have recruited Chris to fulfill this important role. The firm has a very large private client practice and Chris’s previous experience as a financial adviser in the banking world will provide a valuable asset to individual clients wanting impartial advice in planning their financial affairs.”

Chris, who is married, is a local boy born in Gloucester and a former pupil of Crypt School. He is a qualified cricket umpire and also a devoted fan of Gloucester Rugby where he is a member of the 1873 Club.
